Guest Speaker Chats
In this #diabeteschat episode we welcome Lisa as our guest speaker. Lisa is the executive director of Hodia., an organisation which organises camps, for children and young people who have diabetes, in Idaho, America. The diabetes camp started in 1978 by Don Scott. The goal of these camps is to provide a place where children and teenagers could come and experience the outdoors, meet others with diabetes, form friendships and learn skills to enable them to live full and independent lives. Lisa has type 1 diabetes and has been living with diabetes for 36 years and was herself a former camper at Hodia camps. She is also a parent of a child with type 1 diabetes.
Our hosting team Claire, Tony and the #DiabetesChat community welcome Lisa to the community chat and in this podcast episode we hear about Lisa’s diagnosis of type 1 diabetes, her son’s diagnosis of type 1 diabetes, what it is like type 1 parenting and about type 1 diabetes camps.
